Well I think the title says it. Being different from others. There are a lot of friends of mine who are ostracized because they are different. And this happens everywhere. People are afraid of the unfamiliar and unknown.
They prefer to have a standard set of people. Anyone or anything different is perceived as a threat. This leads to social ostracism and bullying. Frankly I'm the perfect person to understand these problems. As I said in the previous post I listen to Heavy Metal, a heavily disliked genre of music. I was and am overweight. Even my religion is a minority in my country. To make matters worse I don't agree with a lot of traditions and opinions of people. I have gone through a lot of stuff because of my differences. Frankly I think this behavior is despicable and pathetic. Some of these people actually try to hide this fear by trying (and miserably failing) to act different. Apparently by forcing yourself to do stuff that no one does or being 'Hipster' is apparently cool. Another idea I find absurd. I mean come on. It's all just a facade. Are you really different? Or are you just trying (I shall say it again and miserably failing)? Even sexual orientation is targeted by people. I'm not just talking about ignorant teenagers but also adults. They think it's pretty amusing and funny to pick on people who are different. I think it's just really sad. I also want to say that being different is not always good. Having a different outlooks in life is good. But even Charles Manson was different (I know it's a little extreme a comparison). There are certain things about people that are different but they need to change. You should always try to weed out the negative. But remember being different isn't always bad.
